Spring 2013

CEP 810 - Teaching and Understanding with Technology

Instructor: Melissa White

This was my first course in Educational Technology and it confirmed what I though.  Educational technology is my passion.  During this course I worked with some wonderful partners to pursue research into some wonderful uses for educational technology as a means to facilitate the Common Core State Standards in the 21st Century Classroom. This course helped me examine my goals for educational technology.

CEP 811 - Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education

Instructor: Susan Wright

In this course I really go to dig into various types of technology and began to explore the TPACK philosophy.  The creation of StAIRs (Stand Alone Instructional Resources) and Webquests proved to be useful tools that I plan to integrate into my  curriculum  for this upcoming school year.

Summer 2013

CEP 812 - Appling Educational Technology to Issues of Practice

Instructor: Sara Beauchap Hicks

This course allowed me to explore the ways I use technology and the effectiveness of my education.  During this course I pursued the issue of "Failure as a Learn Mode."  I learned that we can learn a lot more from failure than we can from success.  It is up to us as educators to show our students how to learn from failure.

CEP 800 - Learning in Schools and other settings

Instructors: Hannah Klautke and Sean Leahy

This course was all about the psychology of learning.  We examined how students learn in a classroom as well as how they learn with technology.

Fall 2013

CEP 816 - Teaching and Learning Accross the Curriculum

Instructor: Dr. Rand Sprio

Teaching and Learning became a class that put my career into perspective rather quickly with the "Creamy vs Chunky" assignment.  In the fall of 2013, I began teaching at the high school I had graduated from and we left with the ability to change my curriculum.  I could make it as chunky as I wanted and was encouraged to do so.  The pervious two years of teaching, had been all about common everything and I often felt like creamy content was the only way to go.  This class encouraged me to explore the difficult balance between "creamy content" (i.e. textbooks and their resources) and "chunky content" (i.e. integrating technology and other resources to design the content/curriculum you want).

CEP 818 - Creativity in Teaching and Learning

Instructors: Dr. Punya Mishra and Jon Good

Creativity in Teaching and Learning has been by far one of my favorite courses while working on my master's degree.  It allowed me to think differently and challenge my students to do the same thing.   I took the time to view my content in new ways and even asked my students to attempt some of the projects like Veja Du (taking something familiar and perceiving it in a new way) and patterning.

Spring 2014

CEP 815 - Technology and Leadership

Instructors: Joshua Rosenberg and Benjamin Gleason

This course proved to be a class that contained real life application as I learned.  Many of the assignments went hand in hand with projects I had been encouraged at work to pursue.

CEP 817 - Learning Technology through Design

Instructors: Dr. Punya Mishra and Jon Good

This course provided me the opportunity to explore the concept of Social Learning for my Big Kahuna project.  Looking at learning through the lens of design put a unique perspective on my classes and my career.

Summer 2014

CEP 807 - Capstone course

Instructor: Dr.  Matt Koehler

The course was taught with several different assistants. The capstone course was the culmination of my MAET program.  The emphasis on reflecting and looking forward to what is next allowed to realize the this chapter of my formal education was ending.

CEP 822 - Approaches to Educational Research

Instructors: Tatyana Li

This course focused on research methods. It provided me the opportunity to examine a topic of interest and conduct a basic search.  I was also challenged to complete statistical data analysis.
